A life path for veterans to rediscover purpose.

501(c)3 Organization.

Many veterans struggle in the transition back to civilian life after leaving the armed services. The purpose with which they served their country is now missing. Estranged from their communities, they feel disconnected and lost without the structure of the military. As a result, veterans may end up hurting or disappointing themselves or their loved ones. The Veterans Administration (VA) reported in 2019 that “depression” rates were two to five times higher in veterans than non-veterans. This coincided with a suicide rate among veterans of twenty per day. The VA cited “lack of purpose” as a major factor in veteran depression. This struggle is REAL, and it is devastating.

Service Empowerment Growth

New Bearing seeks to break this disruptive cycle by redirecting veterans towards a positive mindset. Our focus is two-fold; first, we nurture the well-being of the veteran by bringing awareness to the issue and giving veterans the tools to create mental balance, and second, we reveal a new path to life purpose through service to others.

We are reaching out to all veterans, with a clear message: “We hear you, you are not alone, and we want to help.” Our program gives veterans greater awareness of the cycle responsible for their struggle.

Our program takes veterans away from the stress of their lives, to places like Nicaragua, off the “beaten path,” where they can let their guard down and the slower pace of life facilitates reflection. Meanwhile, a daily blend of yoga, meditation, breath-work, hiking and surfing rejuvenate each participant’s mind, body and spirit.

The New Bearing experience takes a holistic approach in helping veterans regain purpose in life. If you would like to participate or make a donation please follow the links below.

Support for Communities

In Nicaragua, veterans will participate in service projects improving local infrastructure for communities in great need. Giving of themselves and working as a team, participants will find purpose in providing basic necessities to local communities.
